Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how SatSignature ("SatSignature," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you visit our website, create an account, use our satellite-monitoring platform, purchase services, communicate with us, or otherwise interact with our products and services (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Policy. If you have questions or wish to exercise a privacy right, contact us at contact@satsignature.com.

1. Scope and Role

This Policy applies to personal information processed through the Services and related support, billing, sales, marketing, and business activities. It does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services that maintain their own privacy policies.

For purposes of applicable privacy law, SatSignature is generally the controller or business responsible for personal information collected directly through the Services. In some business arrangements, we may process information on behalf of a customer under a separate agreement; in those cases, the customer controls the relevant processing and requests should ordinarily be directed to that customer.

2. Personal Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account and contact information: name, email address, telephone number, organization, mailing address, username, and account preferences.
  • Authentication information: passwords and related security or verification information. Passwords are stored using protective technical measures rather than in readable form.
  • Subscription and transaction information: plan, order, billing status, transaction history, and limited payment-related information. Complete payment-card details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored directly by SatSignature.
  • Service configurations and content: satellite selections, frequencies, transponders, monitoring preferences, alerts, spectrum snapshots, annotations, and other information you submit or configure.
  • Communications: support requests, feedback, survey responses, testimonials submitted with permission, and other correspondence.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and network information: IP address, browser type, operating system, device characteristics, language, referring URL, and approximate location derived from network information.
  • Usage and diagnostic information: pages viewed, features used, access times, interactions, error reports, performance information, and security logs.
  • Monitoring activity: satellite, feed, frequency, span, transponder, and related technical activity associated with your account or session.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: identifiers used to maintain sessions, remember preferences, secure the Services, understand usage, and support permitted analytics or communications.

Information from other sources

We may receive information from payment processors, service providers, business partners, public sources, security providers, or an organization that authorizes your access. We combine that information with other information only as permitted by law and for the purposes described in this Policy.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, personalize, and improve the Services;
  • create and administer accounts, subscriptions, permissions, and authentication;
  • process transactions, maintain billing records, and provide purchase-related communications;
  • deliver satellite-monitoring features, alerts, snapshots, support, and requested information;
  • communicate about service status, security, product updates, policy changes, and customer support;
  • send marketing communications where permitted by law and honor opt-out requests;
  • monitor performance, analyze usage, troubleshoot errors, and develop new features;
  • protect the Services, users, SatSignature, and third parties from fraud, misuse, unauthorized access, and other security threats;
  • enforce our agreements and policies and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
  • comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests; and
  • carry out another purpose disclosed when information is collected or with your consent.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), United Kingdom GDPR, or similar law applies, our legal bases may include: performing a contract with you; taking steps at your request before entering a contract; pursuing legitimate interests that are not overridden by your rights; complying with legal obligations; protecting vital interests; and obtaining consent where required. You may withdraw consent at any time, but withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

5. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: vendors that provide hosting, cloud infrastructure, communications, analytics, security, customer support, billing, payment processing, and other services on our behalf.
  • Organizations and authorized users: if your account is provided or managed by an organization, authorized administrators may access account and usage information consistent with that relationship.
  • Business partners: parties involved in a service, integration, promotion, or commercial relationship you request or authorize.
  • Legal and safety matters: public authorities, courts, advisers, or other parties when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, property, users, or the Services.
  • Business transactions: actual or prospective buyers, investors, lenders, advisers, or counterparties in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.
  • With your direction or consent: other parties when you request, authorize, or consent to disclosure.

SatSignature does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes except with your direction or consent.

6. Payment Processing

Payments may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider identified at checkout. Payment providers process payment-card and related information under their own terms and privacy policies. SatSignature may receive limited transaction details, such as payment status, billing contact information, card type, and the last digits of a payment method.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, provide functionality, protect accounts, measure performance, and understand use of the Services. You can control cookies through browser settings, although blocking certain cookies may prevent parts of the Services from functioning properly. Additional information is available in our Cookie Policy.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain accounts and business records, meet contractual commitments, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect security, and comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements. Retention periods vary according to the type of information, the reason it was collected, the sensitivity of the information, and applicable law.

When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, de-identify, or securely isolate it. Information may remain in backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten or deleted in the ordinary course.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No security program or method of transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and using the Services through a secure device and connection.

10. International Data Transfers

SatSignature and its providers may process personal information in the United States and other countries where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, and take other measures required by applicable law.

11. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or an objection to certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent and to complain to a data-protection authority.

You may update certain account information through the Services or submit a request to contact@satsignature.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. Applicable law may permit or require us to deny or limit a request, for example when information must be retained to comply with law, protect security, or establish or defend legal claims.

Marketing communications

You may opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us. Even after opting out of marketing, you may continue to receive nonpromotional communications necessary to administer your account, transactions, security, or the Services.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If applicable law grants you GDPR-related rights, those rights may include access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. You may also lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your place of residence, place of work, or place of an alleged infringement.

United States state privacy rights

Residents of California and certain other U.S. states may have rights to know or access personal information, request correction or deletion, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling, subject to statutory scope and exceptions. Where applicable, we will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.

12. Children's Privacy

The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

13. Third-Party Services

The Services may link to or integrate with third-party websites, applications, payment processors, communications providers, weather services, or other resources. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information to a third party.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Services, our practices, or legal requirements. The date above identifies the latest revision. If a change is material, we may provide additional notice through the Services, by email, or by another reasonable method. Unless otherwise stated, an updated Policy becomes effective when posted.
